Borussia Dortmund were tracking Jadon Sancho long before they prised him away from Manchester City this summer.
The 17-year-old joined the German club in August after deciding it was best to continue his career away from the Etihad.
A host of top clubs in England were looking at the winger, including Arsenal and Tottenham.
However, Dortmund won the race for the England Under-17 international and their manager Peter Bosz has high hopes for the youngster.
"Well obviously he is a big talent, a lot of clubs want him," said Bosz.
"I have only been at Dortmund for two months but I know the club was already looking at him for a long time.
"We are really pleased to sign him. He is a big talent. Unfortunately he is not able to play in the Champions League yet.
"We have to be patient, but we try to prepare him for the second round.
"Like I said, he is a big talent and we are pleased to have him with us."
