MIDO has reiterated his belief that Mohamed Salah is wanted by Real Madrid.

The Liverpool star netted against Bournemouth on Saturday to notch up his 40th goal of the season.

Real Madrid are rumoured to have shown an interest in the winger, 25, and Mido is sure their interest is genuine.

After making similar comments earlier this season, Mido said: "Real Madrid want him.

"And we have all seen the poor performances of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema with the 4-4-2.

"I was afraid that Salah might fail at Liverpool, but I think he is ready to jump to the next level.

"Real Madrid would be able to use his strengths."

Salah, who joined from Roma in a £44.4million deal last summer, has fired Liverpool into the semi-finals of the Champions League, with Jurgen Klopp's side also set to secure a top-four Premier League finish.

He is also set to play for his country at this summer's World Cup in Russia.

And while Salah is 127 caps shy of Ahmed Hassan's national record and 36 goals away from Hossam Hassan's tally, Mido reckons the Reds ace has already proved himself to be Egypt's best ever player

Mido, who had spells at Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Wigan, West Ham and Barnsley, told DMC: "I know many people will disagree with this, but in my opinion, Mohamed Salah is the best player in the history of Egyptian football.

"Salah’s mentality is much better than mine. When I was young I did not get any advice, and this would come to hurt me later on.

"We could see how strong he was mentally with the way he handled himself when he didn’t play at Chelsea."
