JURGEN KLOPP'S wife urged him not to take over Manchester United before while he was still at Borussia Dortmund.
The German tactician, 52, ended up joining the Reds instead and has already led them to the Champions League title.
And as he bids to bring a first-ever Premier League trophy to Anfield, ex-Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has revealed the part wife Ulla Sandrock played.
He told Denmark's TV2: "I interviewed Klopp for Sky, and I asked if he and Liverpool were created for each other. He looked at me and asked 'Why?'
"Then Klopp told me he could have taken over Manchester United, but his wife said it wasn't right.
"When Liverpool arrived, his wife said it was right. There is something strange there. It is as if he's created for Liverpool."
Liverpool are eight points clear of second-placed Leicester and Thompson thinks they are on course to break their top-flight drought.
He added: "In my time we always lost three to four games [at this stage of the season], but this team leads by nine points and lost only one game last season.

Liverpool's win over Manchester City spilled over into international duty as Joe Gomez and Raheem Sterling clashed in the canteen.
But the duo were all smiles as they returned to training today with the incident seemingly behind them.
